The complete rotisserie restoration of
Joe Floyd’s 1936 Phaeton
Follow along as we restore this Vintage Ford to complete original condition.

This 1936 Ford Phaeton is very beautiful and rare body style. How many of these this complete, have you seen on the road? It was so wonderful to start out with such a complete car. It looked so good when it was purchased, but we found that there were many mistakes made the last time the resto was attempted. Someone had just screwed on very thin sheets of tin over rusty floor pans. That’s what I call a real "back yard" repair. It was the worst part of the car, for the strength and integrity and even safety of this vintage beauty and its passengers was on the line. The shocks were wired on and never hooked up. When it was painted it was panel painted which is normally a good thing on a solid color but every panel was a different shade. Our customer’s conviction along with ours at Jimmy’s was to make it right. We dismantled it, plastic media blasted it bare metal, attached it to one of our rotisseries, and proceeded to bring it back to pristine condition.

The flathead engine was pulled and sent of to "Dana’s Machine" in Shakopee Minnesota.
Dana has built some of the sweetest running engines in Joe Floyd’s collection of flathead cars located in Harrisburg South Dakota.
We purchased flat sheet metal floor pans that are made for street rod and Dave Meyers of our sheet metal fab department altered them to fit the phaeton. (See pics.) You cannot tell that the vehicle’s pans were replaced or repaired. Great Job Dave!
